Mr. Toussaint Charette, 96, of Quimby, ME, died Sunday (March 30 , 2003) at a Fort Kent Hospital. He was born in Fort Kent, ME, Nov. 1, 1906, the son of french heritage parents, Henry and Julie (Dufour) Charette. He was a woodsmen and foreman and worked with his men and served as a medic. He was a self employed carpenter. He moved from Fort Kent, ME to Ashland, ME in 1956, where he lived for 12 years, then moved back to Quimby, ME. Toussaint was a loving father, teacher and roll model. He loved his children, grandchildren and especially young children. He was a very honest, sincere and caring man who was loved by all who knew him. During his retired years he became a proficient vegetable gardener and sold them to area residences. In the spring he enjoyed making maple sugar with his grandchildren and also sold some to area residences. He also enjoyed ice fishing. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Eagle Lake and he was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters of Fort Kent. Mr. Charette was predeceased by his first wife of 51 years, Stella (Daigle) Charette in 1981. He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadette (Violette) Cormier Charette of Quimby, ME; two sons, Harold and his wife , Lise of Granby, and James and his wife, Faye of Rochester, NH; five d aughters, Mrs. Dudley (Norma) Pelletier of Bridgeville, PA, Mrs. Roland (Della) Lamarre of Fort Kent, ME, Mrs. Rena Beaulieu of Quimby, ME, Mrs. E lton (Jeannine) Geilow of Houston, MN, Mrs. Ross (Eleanor) Reese of Ash land, ME; two brothers, Elie Charette of Rockville and Leo Paul Charett e of Presque Isle, ME; two sisters, Mrs. Caroline Michaud of Fort Kent, M E and Mrs. Roland (Leone) Bard of Ellington; 22 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his parents; one brother, Adelard Charette; two sisters, Olive Bouchard and Regina Pelletier; two infant sons, Maurice and John; two grandchildren, Perry Charette and Kathleen (Geilow ) Grattan. Friends may call at the Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent, ME, TODAY 7-9 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 1 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church Eagle Lake with the Rev. James Albert officiating. Spring burial will be in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery, Fort Kent, ME, May 12, 2003.
