Second Hand Dealer Dies - Gilbert Kilgore Passes Away After Long Illness
Taken ill last May with heart trouble and dropsy resulting from his advanced years, Gilbert L. Kilgore, age 72, died at the home of his son, Joe Kilgore 2328 South C street at 8 o'clock Saturday evening. He had been sinking rapidly for the past several days and death was not unexpected when it came.
The deceased had been a resident of the city for the past 35 years and for many years had been in the second hand business here. For a long time previous to his last illness, he and his son had managed the store on East Main street, where the son is still in charge. Mr. Kilgore was a man known to everyone by his square and straight forward dealings and he enjoyed the deepest respect and confidence of all who knew him.
He leaves a wife, two sons, Joe of this city, and Elmer of Alexandria, and two brothers to mourn his loss. The funeral was held this afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Holiness Christian church, which he attended. Rev. Mr. Shepp in charge, and interment followed in the city cemetery.
