A longtime Marshfield resident, Henry A. Weigel, 96, died at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday at the Marshfield Convalescent Center, where he had been residing since April 26, 1979.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St John's Catholic Church, with the Rev. George C. Passehl officiating. A nephew, Herman Weissenbeck, will serve as lector. Music will be provided by a grandson, Ronald H. Adler, as organist, and Mrs. Dennis Ross, vocalist.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Edward Fleisner Jr., Gordon Bushman, Omar Adler, Jacob Weigel Jr., Harlow Hustedt and Randy Weigel.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Friday and until time of services Saturday at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel, where there will be a St. John's Rosary-Altar Society service at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by a St. John's parish vigil service at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Mr. Weigel was born Feb. 15, 1886 in Marshfield to Mr. and Mrs. Herman (Clara Hartl) Weigel and attended St. John's Parochial School. He married the former Rose A. Bohman Sept. 28, 1909 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt. She survives. They had celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary in 1979.
They were engaged in farming on Route 5, Marshfield, until retiring in 1949 and moving to the City of Marshfield.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roslyn Adler, Marshfield, Mrs. Herbert (Isabelle) Bushman, Stevens Point, and Mrs. Omar (Marie) Hustedt, Wausau; two sons, Jacob N. Weigel Sr., Route 4, Marshfield, and Roman O. (Bud) Weigel, Route 5, Marshfield; a brother, Oscar Weigel Sr., Marshfield; a sister, Mrs. Hazel Weissenbeck, Route 5, Marshfield; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Mrs. Edward (Dorothy) Fleisner, a brother and three sisters.
