Rose A. Weigel, 97, died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday at the Marshfield Living Center, where she had been a resident since May 1, 1979. Death was due to natural causes.
The Rite of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church. The Rev. John S. LaPorte will officiate. Burial will be in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Edward Fleisner Jr., Gordon Bushman, Ronald Adler, Thomas and Randy Weigel, and Harlow Hustedt. Clarice Kiefler will be the organist for congregational singing.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated next week, with a date to be announced, because of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum.
Visitation will be at the Rembs/Kundinger Chapel, after 4 p.m. today and again on Thursday until time of services. St. John's Parish Council of Catholic Women rosary service will be at 4 p.m. today, followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary service at 7:30 p.m. and St. John's prayer service at 7:45 p.m., all at the funeral chapel.
She was born June 23, 1890, in Hewitt, to Jacob and Anna Bohman. She attended St. Joseph's Parochial School in Hewitt.
She was married to Henry A. Weigel, Sept. 28, 1909, at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Hewitt He died May 19, 1982.
As a young woman, she worked in Milwaukee and Chicago. After her marriage, they operated a farm near Marshfield, retiring in 1949, and moving into the city of Marshfield. They celebrated their 50th, 60th, and 70th wedding anniversaries.
She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, the Parish Council of Catholic Women, the Catholic Order of Foresters, and the Catholic Family Insurance Society.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Roselyn Adler of Marshfield, Mrs. Herbert (Isabelle) Bushman of Stevens Point, and Mrs. Omar (Marie) Hustedt of Wausau; two sons, Jacob Weigel Sr. of Marshfield, and Roman (Bud) Weigel of Marshfield; one sister, Mrs. Theresa Stangl of Marshfield; 22 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 18 great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, five brothers, five sisters, one daughter Mrs. Dorothy Fleisner, and one great-great-granddaughter.
