He was an avid table tennis player, until developing shoulder problems at age 79, winning many first-place trophies here and in Ohio. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S Navy (1948-1952) and was stationed on the USS Leyte, Norfolk, VA. He retired from Defense Electronic Supply Center in Dayton, OH.
He was the husband of Laura Elliott Goudy-Dixon, of the residence and son of the late Hubert and Bertha Clay Dixon. Besides his wife, he is survived by two children: a daughter, Teresa Dixon Myers (Ray) of Marion, OH and a son, David Wayne Dixon (Julie) of Yatesville, GA; two step-sons, Joel Goudy, III of Colorado Springs, CO and Gerold Allen Goudy (Hannah) of Bonaire, GA; three grandchildren, Scott (Chelsea) and Ben (Krista) Myers of Marion, OH and Alicia Nicole Dixon Meuse (Louie) of Barnesville, GA; six great grandchildren; and good friends, John Hall, Louis Twiford and longtime childhood friend from KY, Buck Martin. He was predeceased by sisters, Annie Slagle, Mildred Martin and Ivy LeMaster; half-sisters, Hilda Clark and Edna Rice and Georgie Ramsay; and half-brothers, Earl Clark, Clifford Clark and Guy Clark.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 28, 2016 at Evangelical Methodist Church, FYF Worship Center officiated by Pastor C. D. White, Jr. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and at all other times at the residence at 686 Chapanoke Road, Hertford, NC.
