Benedict J. "Ben" Nett, 88, Minot, passed away Thursday, October 12, 2006, ManorCare Health Services, Minot.

Benedict Jacob "Ben" Nett was born March 4, 1918, in Foxholm, ND, the son of Andrew and Anna (Backes) Nett. He was raised in the Foxholm area and attended Muskego School.

Ben married Marion Olson on September 24, 1946. They made their home in the Foxholm area, where they farmed and raised their family. He had helped with the early construction of the Minot Air Force Base, Minot. Ben continued to farm and in the later years, worked for Elmer Engelhard Construction, Foxholm, and then for Watne Realty Co., Minot. Marion passed away on October 15, 1969.

He married Lena Bertsch on November 15, 1974, at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot. The couple made their home in Minot. He retired from farming in 1980.

Ben was baptized and confirmed at St. Henry's Catholic Church, rural Foxholm. He then became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Foxholm. He was currently a member of St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. He was also a former member of the Eagles Aerie and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus, Minot, as a 3rd Degree Knight

Ben had a passion for music and in his younger years, playing in the Nett Family Band. He played both the piano and the guitar in many barn dances. He also enjoyed playing cards and spending time with his many friends and relatives.

Surviving family includes: wife, Lena, Minot; sons, Bruce (Judy) Nett, Glenburn, Brent Nett, Minot, and Dal (Kris) Nett, Bel Air, MD; daughter, Debbie Nett, Minot; stepsons, James (Rikki) Bertsch, David (Gail) Bertsch, Ron Bertsch, all of Minot, and Eugene Bertsch, Cody, WY; stepdaughters, Marge Hoffer, Minot, Donna Mathiason, Newark, CA and Sandra (David) Eshenko, Fargo, ND; three grandchildren, Ryan, Joel (Jen) and Erin Nett; several step-grandchildren; brother, Paul (Eileen) Nett, Minot; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Ben was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Anna; first wife, Marion; brothers, John and Joe Nett; sisters, Irene Dufner, Clara Phillips, Katy Hensen and Susie Jevne.
