Reba Rose Chance, 95, of Pittsburg, passed away at 12:41 P.M. Monday, January 2, 2017 at the Via Christi Hospital after a short illness. She was born February 17, 1921 at Pittsburg, the daughter of William James and Bea (Divine) Alliett of Chicopee, KS. She was raised in Pittsburg and remained a lifelong resident. She graduated from Pittsburg High school with the class of 1940. On October 29, 1938, she was united in marriage to Merle N. Chance at Columbus, Kansas. He preceded her in death on February 26, 2000. Mrs. Chance worked at the Kansas Army Ammunition Plant in Parsons. Membership was held in the South Broadway Baptist Church. Reba is survived by her niece Lana (Brackney) and her husband Milt Alexander of Weir, KS. grandchildren: Debbie Chance of Salt Lake City, UT, Donnie Chance of Venice CA, Ronnie Chance of Los Angeles, CA, Michael and Timothy Pauley of Indianapolis, IN. and 17 great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren and many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews. Reba was preceded in death by: her husband Merle of Pittsburg, son Galen of Salt Lake City, daughter Peggy (Chance) Pauley of Beaumont TX, sisters Eugenia Brackney of Weir and Lois (Griffin)Heston of Wichita, brother Bill Griffin of Pittsburg, grandson Hondo Chance of Los Angeles and granddaughter Lisa Chance of Fresno, CA. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday (January 6) at the Brenner Mortuary with Rev. Dan Moss officiating. Interment will be at Highland Park Cemetery, where she will rest with Merle and Peggy. Friends may call after 11:00 a.m. Thursday to sign the register book. The casket will remain closed. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice to support a cure for Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. These may be left at or mailed to the Brenner Mortuary, 114 East 4th St., Pittsburg, KS 66762. Online condolences may be left at www.brennermortuary.com.
