Anna Mae Cerkas, age 89, a resident of St. Mary's Home at Felician Village, Manitowoc, died late Friday evening, January 6, 2017 at St. Mary's.She was born on June 27, 1927 in Manitowoc, daughter of the late Phillip and Elizabeth (Trost) Hein. Anna Mae was a graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. On July 3, 1946 she married Louis Cerkas at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. He preceded her in death on October 13, 2005. Anna Mae was employed as an instructional aid with the Manitowoc Public School District until her retirement. After her retirement Anna Mae continued to volunteer her time at Jefferson Elementary School for many years.Survivors include her children and their spouses: Barbara and Dave Severson, Wyndmere, ND; Marilou and Don Meixensperger, Brooksville, FL; Stephen Cerkas, Na' alehu, HI; and Chris and Tom Wiesner, Two Creeks, WI; six grandchildren: Donna, Rich, Tracy, Rick, Kari and Gretchen; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Dorothy Schmitz, Manitowoc; Martha Linsmeier, Reedsville; two sisters-in-law: Dorothy Hein and Laona Hein both of Manitowoc; one brother-in-law: Francis Linsmeier, Reedsville. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was also preceded in death by six brothers and three sisters-in-law: Bernard and Helen Hein, John and Agnes Hein, Richard and Lucille Hein, Paul Hein, Francis Hein and Raymond Hein; two sisters and three brothers-in-law: Gertrude and Vernon Kowalski, Marie Linsmeier, Howard Schmitz and Clem Linsmeier. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday January the 10th, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi on Grand (1416 Grand Avenue) Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be Rev. Dave Pleir, with entombment to follow at Calvary Mausoleum Chapel, Manitowoc.
