Mrs. Faymia Callahan, 49, well-known Thorp resident prominent in 4-H Club work for many years, died Thursday morning at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle following a long illness. She was the wife of Francis W. Callahan of Thorp.

Mrs. Callahan was born in Miller, Mo., June 12, 1908. Her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Sullivan, brought her to the Kittitas Valley when she was one year old.

She graduated from Kittitas High School and Ellensburg Normal School, now Central Washington College. She taught at the Lyons School in the Fairview District in 1927-28 and married Mr. Callahan July 22, 1929.

Mrs. Callahan was a charter member of the Happy Thought Club of Kittitas and was a member of the Thorp Church of Christ.

Long interested in young people, she served in 4-H club work for many years and was a leader of the Thorp C.S.S. Club at the time of her death.

Surviving are her husband; two daughters, Miss Marie Callahan of Thorp and Mrs. Jim (Doris) Ross of Seattle; a son, Don Callahan of Thorp; one grandson; a sister, Mrs. Glen Crabtree of South Cle Elum, and two brothers, Clarence and Cleo Sullivan, both of Thorp.
