Margaret D. Kirkwood 78, of Mayfield, KY passed away Sunday September 29, 2013 at Magnolia Village in Bowling Green, KY at 6:10 p.m. Margaret was born July 16, 1935 in Sistersville, W. VA. She was preceded in death by her husband James E. Kirkwood, her parents Arthur and Sylvia Archer, three sisters Juanita Goodfellow, Betty Fetty and
Donna June Dally, two brothers Loren Archer and Stanford Archer.
Margaret was a retired Data Processor from Blue Cross-Blue Shield Insurance Co. Member of First United Methodist Church in Mayfield, KY. Active member of the Graves Co. Republican Party. She loved to cook, work in her garden and especially spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by two sons Jon Kirkwood (Patricia) of St. Leonard, Maryland and Trace Kirkwood (Dana) of Bowling Green, KY, two daughters Robin Archer of Louisville, KY and Mary Layton of Shelbyville, KY. One sister also survives Jean Wilson (Robert) of Marietta, Ohio and two brothers Glenn Archer (Judy) of Livermore, KY and Elliott Archer (Carol) of Columbia, S. C. Seven wonderful grandchildren Morgan Layton, Lauren Caudill, Tyler Layton, James, Zachary, Sylvia and Parkman Kirkwood. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Visitation will be Friday October 4, 2013 from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield, KY. Graveside services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Highland Park Cemetery in Mayfield, KY.
