Melba Yost passed away at The Homestead in Rexburg, Idaho, on Friday, Feb. 17, 2017 at the age of 87.

She was born November 21, 1929 at Burley, Cassia, Idaho to Ephraim Bell and Sylvia Ann Clark, the tenth of eleven children. She attended school in Burley and received a "Parker 51 Pen" as she graduated from High School for never having been tardy nor absent during twelve years of schooling. She worked at the Idaho Bank & Trust in Burley as a bookkeeper and teller.

She met Willis Henry Yost at a dance in Burley. After a short courtship they were married April 12, 1950, in the Logan LDS Temple. Willis and Melba lived in Salt Lake City, Murray, and Bountiful, Utah before moving to Idaho Falls, in March 1959. They established a branch of Pembroke's of Idaho in Idaho Falls and later purchased the business from Pembroke's in Salt Lake City and named their newly acquired business, Yost Office Systems, Inc.

Willis and Melba welcomed and loved two children, a son Duane Lee and a daughter Elaine. They also opened their home to four foster children.

Melba was a very punctual person and quick acting woman. An excellent cook, loved to do hand work, quilting, painting, and reading. She made a handmade quilt for each of her grandchildren and a crocheted blessing afghan for her great grandchildren. She truly loved the time spend with her family.

Willis and Melba built a small cabin in the Island Park area and loved the beauty of nature along with having family members and friends joining them with good food, games, boating and much laughter. Melba had a sense of humor to equal no other, even making fun of herself at times for the benefit of others.

Melba was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in many callings including ward and stake Relief Society President. She also served as a volunteer for LDS Social Services adoption, foster care and baby placements. She served and enjoyed working with the Special Needs Relief Society for many years. Melba also found much joy and satisfaction as she participated in indexing and family history for many years. In 1986 to 1987 Willis and Melba served a mission in Columbus, Ohio where they spent a year in the Mission Office.

Melba lost her husband April 6, 1999. She is survived by her two children, Duane Lee (Lori), Idaho Falls and Elaine Talbot (Tory), Alpine, Wyo., and a sister Arlene Richins, (DeVerl ) Trabuco, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers, George Edward Bell, Clark Ephraim Bell, Hyrum Ezra Bell, Elwin Clark Bell, LaVern Clark Bell, Theo Clark Bell, sister, Mary Maurine Warner, and brothers Warren Clark Bell and Wesley Clark Bell. She will be missed by ten grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.

According to her wishes, a private family graveside service will be held prior to her burial beside her beloved husband Willis, in the Ammon, Idaho Cemetery. On April 6, 2017, a memorial service will be held in memory of Melba at 6:30 p.m., in the LDS Church Building located at 1165 Azalea Drive, Idaho Falls.

Because of the commitment Willis and Melba had to supporting BYU–Idaho and education in general, the family has asked that donations be made to BYU–Idaho in lieu of flowers. Please visit http://www.byui.edu/giving/ to make a donation.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.coltrinmortuary.com.
