Warren Clark Bell, age 88, of Burley, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, in Burley.

Warren was born to Ephraim and Sylvia (Clark) Bell on Dec. 29, 1923, in Burmester, Utah. Warren was the seventh child of 10 children. The family moved back to Oakley shortly after Warren's birth, where they lived until he was 7. They then moved to Unity and then to Burley, where they stayed for the rest of their lives. He graduated from Burley High School, where he excelled in sports.

World War II broke out and he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corps and was trained as a bombardier. After the war ended, he spent time in California working in his brother, Elwin's, automobile repair business but after two years, Warren decided to return to Burley. Warren was very close to his parents and moved into their home to take care of his father who had suffered a paralyzing stroke. He was hired full time at the Amalgamated Sugar Company and, while working near Declo for the company, he met Lily (Pons) Bell. They were married on Sept. 4, 1953, at his parents' home. Ten years later, on May 10, 1963, they were sealed in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They both lived with his parents to continue to support and assist them until their passing. He also took great care of his mother-in-law, Jeanne Pons. In addition to his employment for 36 years as the field maintenance foreman at Amalgamated Sugar, Warren was also a volunteer fireman with the Burley Fire Department.

Warren loved to laugh, especially with his siblings, and could fix absolutely anything, any time. He enjoyed working in the yard and gardening. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was always willing to help. He spent many hours serving at the Church Welfare Farm and attending the temple. He worked in the Scouting program for many years and enjoyed serving as the executive secretary in the bishopric. He made memories with his family as they spent time together on many fun vacations to Southern California and Island Park. He was a great strength and stabilizing influence upon all of his family.

Warren was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Maurine Warner; and five brothers, Ephraim Clark, Hyrum Ezra, Elwin Clark, LaVern Clark and Theo Clark Bell. He is survived by his loving wife, Lily Helene Jeanne (Pons) Bell of Burley; his brother, Wesley (Virginia) Bell of Kent, Wash.; two sisters, Melba Ann Yost of Idaho Falls, and Arlene (DeVerl) Richins of Trabuco Canyon, Calif.; his children, Larry Warren (Louise) Bell of Kaysville, Utah, Kerry Reed (Rhonda) Bell of Heyburn, Beverly Jean (Jim) Ellison of American Fork, Utah, Kent Eugene Bell of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Alan Rodney (Rendi) Bell of Kuna; as well as 17 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Burley LDS 3rd and 7th Ward Church, 2200 Oakley Ave., with Bishop Steve Garn officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in Burley, with military rites provided by the Mini-Cassia Veterans Organization. Friends may call from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 13, at the Rasmussen Funeral Home, 1350 E. 16th St. in Burley, and from 10 until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
