George Copeland Bain

George Copeland Bain, 85, of East Prairie, died April 18, 2017, at the East Prairie Nursing Center. Born July 10, 1931, in Camden, Tennessee, to the late John Herman and Lily May McCurtry Bain, he was retired from Brown Shoe Company and had been a member of the Westside Baptist Church in East Prairie. George’s hobbies included his love for old cars, mowing, and woodworking. On October 14, 1950, he married Ruby Grimes, who preceded him in death on July 22, 2011.

Survivors include: three daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Darrell Cobb of East Prairie, Marilyn and Jim Bo Taylor of East Prairie, and Mary Ann and Charles Johnson of Dogwood. Also surviving are eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by one son, George “Buddy” Bain; two brothers, O.C. Bain and Herman Bain, Jr.; and six sisters, Bealus Summerlott, Nell Ponder, Mary Bain, Ann Bain, Retha Bain and Sue Bain.

Visitation will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 21, 2017, at the Shelby Funeral Home, with Bro. George White, officiating.

Interment will follow in the East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Robert Carter, Tony Childers, Jay Childers, Jason Bryant, Colton Triplett and Danny Griffin.
