Born in Knoxville, TN on the twenty first of November, 1950, she was a daughter of Benjamin and Mima Garner Covington.
Betty was always trying in tangible ways to better her community. She was a scout leader for over twenty years especially in the Cub Scouts, she was a pack leader for pack #348, and she was involved in boy scouts as well as scouting for the handicapped.
She was a volunteer with the Gateway Home and will always be remembered as a fighter, and a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.
Betty was preceded in death by a son, Benjamin "Ben" Moore, a great-grandson, Anthony Lamourine, a sister, Mildred Carney; three brothers, Frank Covington, Benjamin Covington, Kenneth Covington and a step-mother Jessie Covington.
