Donald LaFontaine 1928-2004
Donald LaFontaine, 76, of Bagley, died on June 6, 2004 at the Mahnomen Health Care Center in Mahnomen.
He was born May 25, 1928 at Cass Lake, the son of Lloyd and Elsie (Mathison) LaFontaine. he grew up in rural Bagley area. He worked in North Dakota as a farmer.
He married Adeline LaFontaine on September 3, 1950 at Emerado, North Dakota. They farmed in Emerado for 16 years and moved to Bagley in the fall of 1970, and on to the family farm south of Bagley in 1971. He farmed and logged his whole life.
He was great with his grandchildren and children. he was very light hearted and made people feel at home. Family and friends were very important to him and he loved to visit with people.
He is survived by his children: Margie (Kelly) Bellefy of Bagley, LeRoy LaFontaine of Bagley, Sharon (Alan) Hedlund of McIntosh, Marvin (Ann) LaFontaine of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Susan (Steve) West of Bagley, Donna Ehlers of Bagley, Sally Amundson of Erskine; three sisters, Lavern (Lloyd) Olson of Bagley, Ida (Warren) Nichols of Bagley, Gladys (Vern) Hlavac of Bagley; one brother, Les (Janet) LaFontaine of Bagley; 33 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his one son, Rodney LaFontaine, three granddaughters and one grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley, with Pastor Mardy Schermerhorn officiating, Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bagley City Cemetery.
