NEWPORT NEWS - Margaret Adams Parker passed away on July 1, 2017, in her home surrounded by her family. She was born January 1, 1919, in Bertie, NC, and was the daughter of the late Fannie Hathaway White Adams and Soloman Benjamin Adams. Margaret joined her sister, Josephine, in Newport News in 1940, where she met her husband, Bill, who later took over running the family Furniture Store, Parker and Powell. They were married in 1941. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Parker, Jr. She is survived by her three children, William M. Parker, III, Ashley Parker (Jodi), Meg Parker (Gary); three grandchildren, Steven Nunnally, Lauren Gaskins (Dusty), Anna Parker; great-granddaughter, Sadie Rose Gaskins; her dear sister, Miriam Wise; and her brother, Frank Adams. Margaret was a longtime member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed the many boat trips she and Bill took on the rivers and bays throughout the area. Margaret was an avid gardener, a humble, cheerful and loving person. She will always be in our hearts with the many lessons and stories she shared with us. The family offers special thanks to her many caregivers for their loving help.

A graveside ceremony will be held at Peninsula Memorial Park, Thursday, July 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Arrangements are in the care of Peninsula Funeral Home.
