Mr. Burgess retired from Morse-Chain Company, Ithaca in 1955. He was a machinist.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Millie Leonard Burgess; five daughters, Mrs. O.E. Loper, Oswego, Miss Mary Burgess, Ithaca, Mrs. C.W. Beebe, Greene, New York, Mrs. H.H. Lipp, Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Thomas Vandemark, Brooktondale; two sons, John W. Burgess, Jr. and Raymond L. Burgess, both of Ithaca; two sisters, Mrs. Harry Boyce and Mrs. Elizabeth Halstead; two brothers, William S. and Victor Burgess, all of Ithaca; thirteen grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held in the Wagner Funeral Home. The minister of the First Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be in East Lawn Cemetery.
