Ronald H. Matznick, age 81, formerly of rural Kiel (Rockville), died peacefully on Sunday evening, October 15, 2017 at Libby's House, Chilton, surrounded by his family.

Ron was born on October 14, 1936 in the town of Schleswig to the late Ralph and Eldora (Schnell) Matznick. He attended Fountain Park Grade School and Kiel High School. Ron worked at Leverenz Shoe Factory and at Hart Carter later becoming Tecumseh Products in New Holstein. He served with the US Army from 1957 until 1959 serving 18 months in Germany. When Ron returned from the service he worked at Kohler Co. for 40 years, retiring in 1999.

On May 21, 1960 he married Salva Jean (Sally) Wagner at Bethlehem UCC in the town of Schleswig.

He was a member of St. Peters UCC in Kiel. Ron was a member of the Quarter Century Club with Kohler Co. and was the former sexton of the Ucker Point Cemetery, He enjoyed hunting, fishing, going up north and spending time with his family and friends. Ron liked watching football games and most of all the Green Bay Packers.

Ron is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sally; his four children: Erick (Sandra) Matznick, Steven (Julie) Matznick, Cheryl Ziegelbauer (Tom Elbe) and Michelle (Keith) Koeser; eight grandchildren: Michelle (Joe) Barrette, Heather (Kevin) Krueger, Brian Kohlman (Allie Carver), Ashley (Tom) Herr, Brandon Matznick, Zachary Matznick and Alexander Koeser (Alicia Hielke); and 10 great grandchildren: Morgan Karsteadt, Justin Jahnke, Julia Jahnke, Autumn Krueger, Marissa Krueger, Donelle Krueger, Devon Krueger, Kayden Krueger, Aubrey Herr and Kinslee Herr. He is further survived by one brother and one sister-in-law: Willard &Tharcilla Matznick; one brother-in-law: Arnold Kabat, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ralph & Eldora Matznick; two infant brothers: Vernon and Wallace; two brothers: Allen Matznick and Marlin Matznick; two sisters and one brother-in-law: Alice Kabat and Carol & Herbert Messman.

A Memorial Service for Ron will be held at 6:00PM on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home (815 6th Street, Kiel). Officiating at the service will be Rev. Christopher Ross, with burial of his cremated remains at Ucker Point Cemetery, Town of Schleswig. Military Honors will be presented by the Kiel VFW Post #6707.

The family will greet relatives and friends at the funeral home on Friday from 3:00PM until the time of service at 6:00PM.

The Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, Kiel is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
