He was born May 2, 1949, in Sheboygan, a son of Ralph and Eldora Schnell Matznick. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1966.
He served in the U.S. Army 1969-71. Following discharge from the army, he lived in the Town of Schleswig and was employed by Tecumseh Products of New Holstein. Later he formed a partnership with his brother operating a tavern in Marytown until 1980.

The funeral will be Friday at 8 p.m. at the Meiselwitz Funeral Home in Kiel. Cindy Munger, assistant to the pastor at St. Peter United Church of Christ in Kiel, will officiate. Burial will be in Ucker Road Cemetery in the Town of Schleswig.
