John was left a orphan by the death of his unknown parents when he was 2 years old, he was adopted by John & Mary Finigan.

Married Anna Kemner 17 Feb 1925 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Quincy, Illinois, they had 5 children: Rosemary, John, Jim, Marjorie & Bernetta.

He owned & operated a shoe repair shop at 2266 Chestnut, they lived at 2607 Chestnut both in Quincy.

Pallbearers were James & Emmitt Tooey, Ted & Leo Middendorf, Jerry Cain & Fred Kemner.
