Bernetta "Bernie" Greifer, 86, of Naperville, Illinois, formerly of Quincy, passed away surrounded by family at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday (February 13, 2018) in Alden Estates of Naperville.

Born June 27, 1931 in Quincy, Bernie was the daughter of John Clifford and Anna Kemner Finigan. She married George J. "Jack" Greifer on August 28, 1954 in St. Francis Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2006.

Bernie was a member of St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church . She was a graduate of Notre Dame High School where she was a cheerleader. Bernie loved all things sports—especially loved seeing the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. She also enjoyed bowling and loved following her brother, Jim Finigan's baseball career. Her joy only increased watching her own children and grandchildren participate in their sporting activities.

Bernie was employed for 15 years at Illinois State Bank. In 1980, she began working at Maid Rite in Quincy where she spent over 20 years until her retirement.

Survivors include two sons, Cliff Greifer (Lynn) of Inverness, IL and Curt Greifer (Marcia) of Acworth, GA; five grandchildren, Matt Greifer of St. Charles, IL, Tim Greifer (Leslie) of Bolingbrook, IL, Brian Greifer of Inverness, IL, Ben Greifer of Inverness, IL and Travis Parton (Priscilla) of Acworth, GA; three great grandchildren, Jordan Greifer and Jayden Greifer both of Bolingbrook, IL and Breckin Parton of Acworth, GA; a sister, Rosemary Finigan Werneth of Quincy; and many loving nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Greifer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack Greifer; two brothers, John "Jack" Finigan and Jim Finigan; and a sister, Margie Broderick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday morning (February 24, 2018) at 10:30 in St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church with Rev. Don Blaeser officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday morning from 9:30 until the time of services at St. Francis Solanus Catholic Church.

Arrangements are in the care of the Zehender Robinson Stormer Cookson Funeral Home.
