The son of Lacy Howard Johnson and Swannie Elizabeth Maness.

Otis Lee Johnson, 55, of Chester, a crane operator and sports enthusiast, died Jan. 1 at home.

Born in Robbins, N.C., he lived in Chester for 34 years. He was a graduate of Pinckney High School in Carthage, N.C.

Mr. Johnson was a crane operator for General Electric Co. in Philadelphia for 16 years. He previously worked for the former Phoenix Steel Co. in Claymont, Del., Kramer and Co. in Marcus Hook, and Philip Tinar and Sons in West Chester.

He was a member of the Bear Creek Congregational Church in Robbins, N.C. He also attended various churches in Chester.

Mr. Johnson was a former assistant coach for the Sandrose Little League softball team. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was the son of the late Howard Johnson.

Survivors: Wife, June Hayward Johnson; daughters, Sandra Whiteside of Eastampton, N.J., Otiesse Johnson of Chester; mother, Swannie Maness Johnson of Robbins, N.C.; brothers, Joseph Johnson of Robbins, N.C., Benjamin Johnson of Bracey, Va.; sisters, Gladys Gaines of Hartwell, Ga., Lavern Williams, Marian Brooks, both of Robbins, N.C., Priscilla Jones of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren.

Service: 7 p.m. Thursday at the Earl L. Foster Funeral Home, 1100 Kerlin St., Chester.

Burial: Saturday at the New Zion Cemetery, Robbins, N.C.
