Orie F. Schisel, age 90, a resident of Brillion West Haven, Brillion, WI, formerly of 2302 County Road S, Cato, Wisconsin, entered eternal life on Monday, September 1, 2014 at Brillion West Haven.

Orie was born on May 6, 1924 in the town of Cato, Manitowoc County. He was the son of the late Ferdinand and Mary Reindl Schisel. He owned and operated the home farm in the town of Cato for many years. Orie had also been employed with Eichmann Plastering and then Bechal Corportion, Two Creeks working on the nuclear plant for two years until it was completed. In the winter months he was employed with Weyerhauser for two years and one year for Michael’s Pipe Line. He also had worked for Manitowoc Shipbuilding retiring in 1984. Orie also worked part time for Cato Recycling Center until April, 2006. On November 20, 1946 he married Margaret Mangin at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Maple Grove. She preceded him in death March 3, 2012 after 65 years of marriage. Orie was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Orie was well known for his love of fishing and taking care of rental boats on Schisel Lake near the home farm in the town of Cato. Orie always said a bad day of fishing was better than a good day at work.

He is survived by eight children: Darlene (Keith) Bergene, Manitowoc; Pat Christianson and her fiancé, Jerry Hoefner, Manitowoc; Judy (Rollie) Kania, Manitowoc; Donald (Janelle) Schisel, Cato; Marie (Dwight) Faber, Manitowoc; Barb (Randy) Schmitt, Manitowoc; Peggy (Rick) Halverson, Valders; David (Debbie) Schisel, Chilton; twenty-five grandchildren: Brian, Jason, Missy, Steve, Tanya, Jill and Kim; Tom, Bonnie, Brenda and Becky; Travis and Kari; Tammy, Scott and Stacy; Robert, Kristina, Ashley and Ross; Spencer and Sadie; Brandon, Austin and Jauger; twenty-eight great grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Lillian Mangin; nieces, nephews along with other relatives and friends surviving. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand and Mary Schisel; his wife, Margaret Schisel; one son, Richard Schisel in 1970; four brothers, Clarence, Herbert, Alvin and Donald Schisel; five sisters, Marjorie Kaminski, Mabel Fischer, Dorothy Augustine, Marian Mull and Regina Schisel; one son-in-law, Wayne Bratz.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, September 8, 2014 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Whitelaw, WI. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Richard Klingeisen with burial to follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call St. Miachel’s Catholic Church in Whitelaw on Sunday, September 7, 2014 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. to conclude the visitation. The visitation will continue at the church on Monday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Brillion West Haven, to Julie and Karen with Heartland Hospice and also to Hailey Kretsch who helped take care of Orie over the past two years. The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Crematory, North 11th and St. Clair Streets, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
