It’s with the great sadness and heaviest of hearts that the family of George Courville, 87, announces his passing from this life on March 22, 2018. George was born in Jennings, LA to Oscar Courville and Emma Leger Courville on January 22, 1931. He was in the furniture business where he owned and operated his own shop, Courville’s Furniture in Jennings and Gueydan. George liked to spend his free time gardening, but most of the time he could be found repairing furniture and tinkering with appliances. He also enjoyed dancing, hunting, swinging on his swing under the oak tree, and playing the accordion. George was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 2012 and the Optimist Club. He, above all, loved the small things in life from spending time with his family to meeting new people and never knowing a stranger. George will be significantly missed by all who knew and loved him.

George is survived by his wife, Evelyn Sue Courville of Jennings, LA; sons, Victor Dale (Jean) Courville of Jennings, LA, George “Jody” (Angie) Courville, Jr. of Broomfield, CO, and Kimbol Courville of Jennings, LA; daughters, Dora Courville of Jennings, LA and Sandy (Phil) Rizzuto of Berthoud, CO; step-children, Dennis (Christi) Hargrave of Gonzales, LA, Rhonda (Horace) Hargrave of Lafayette, LA, and David (Tara) Hargrave of San Diego, CA; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and sister, Laura Abshire of Jennings, LA.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Emma L. Courville; siblings, Henry, Lelia, Morris, Tony, Loris, Wilson, AJ, Nelson, and Rose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jennings, LA on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 1:00 PM with Father Susil Fernando officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Mausoleum.

Carrying George to his final resting place in Calvary Mausoleum will be Jody Courville, Victor Courville, Dennis Hargrave, Chris Courville, Kye Cary, and Blake Landry
