Mrs. James Wesley Clegg, 88, of 1322 Pine died Wednesday afternoon at Davis Hospital where she had been a patient for several months.
The former, Rebecca Alice Bassett, she was born October 6, 1881, at Greenwood, daughter of the late Jonothan Richard and Mary Jane House Bassett. She attended schools in Greenwood.
She was married at Rock Springs to James Wesley Clegg, an employee of the Cotton Belt Railroad here for many years. Mr. Clegg died June 1, 1940.
Mrs. Clegg was a member of the Lakeside Methodist Church, the WSCS and the Friendship Bible Class. She was the recipient of a life membership pin which the WSCS presented to her.
Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ray Patterson of Indianapolis, Ind; one brother, W. C. Bassett of Rogers; one sister, Mrs. Jeff McClendon of Oakdale, Cal.; and a nephew, J. Bascom Bassett of Pine Bluff.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary by Dr. E. C. Rule of Magnolia and Rev. John B. Hefley, pastor of Lakeside Methodist Church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. James Wesley Clegg, 88, of 1322 Pine, who died Wednesday at Davis Hospital, were held this morning at Ralph Robinson and Son Mortuary by Dr. E. Clifton Rule of Magnolia and Rev. John B. Hefley, pastor of Lakeside Methodist Church.
Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Lawrence Blackwell, W. R. Featherston, Virginius Mead, Curtis Mead, Jim McLellan, Doug McLellan, Wade Bledsoe, L. Croth, Jerry Patterson, Darrell Allbright, Jimmy Mcgehee, Larry Bassett, Jimmy Bassett and Dr. Joseph Norton.
