Mrs. J.A. Bigbie
Mrs. J.A. Bigbie, well know pioneer resident of the Mountain View and Carnegie communities, died at Weatherford Saturday, Jan. 26. The body was brought to Carnegie and funeral services were held at the First Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. Interment was made at the Mountain View cemetery. Rev. W.A.R. Lovell, Christian minister, conducted the service.
Virginia Belle Bassett, was born August 15, 1860 in Drew county, Ark. and died at Weatherford, Jan. 26, 1929, aged 68 years, 5 months and 11 days.
In early childhood she professed religion and joined the Methodist church, remaining a true member the rest of her life.
September 17, 1882, she was married to J.A. Bigbie and to this union five children were born. They are J.H. Bigbie, J.M. Bigbie and Mrs. G.H. Melton of Carnegie, Mrs. Albert Gray of Weatherford and Elbert M. Bigbie who died in 1913. Her husband died 22 years ago.
The family moved to Oklahoma in 1899 and settled near Mountain View. For the past 17 years Mother Bigbie has made her home with her children. Besides member of her family, she is survived by three brothers and four sisters.
