George E. Hake, 81, formerly of Piqua, more recently of Columbus, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at 4:05 pm in First Community Village of Columbus. He was born in Piqua on April 18, 1925 to the late Gordon and Marguerite (Seng) Hake.

Survivors include a brother, Bob Hake of Lake Panasoffkee, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Violet Hake of Mansfield; four nephews, Mike (Kristen) Hake, Scott Hake, Doug (LaVonne) Moniaci, Rick (Cindy) Moniaci; four nieces, Laura McAllister, Linda (Phil) Tomlison, Marcia Drinkard, Judy (Jim) Geiger; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Gordon Hake, Jr., Gaylord Hake, William Hake, and a sister, Elaine Moniaci.

Mr. Hake was a graduate of Piqua Central High School, and retired as a Purchasing Manager for Harrop Industries of Columbus. He served as a Technical Sergeant for the United States Army during World War II where he was awarded the Bronze Star medal. He was a member of the American Legion and V. F. W.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 1:00 pm in Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jack Chalk officiating and full military honors provided by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad. Arrangements are being handled through the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home.
