A Tribute by Cortney:

Yesterday, we lost this special man...my father in law. Such a precious sweet soul. A God-fearing man who loved his family. Quiet and reserved for the most part but boy if he was passionate about something you better believe he went all out. Everything he did, he did it well.

He has run his final race and is now with our Savior. The only thing that helps us through this time is knowing where he is. His life was such a testament to God. I can truly say that he was one who could not wait to meet his maker, he longed for Heaven (just as a Christian should). For it was within an instant yesterday, he was at the Lord's feet, right where he has always wanted to be. Praise God for that.

This man was loving, caring, supportive, funny, and uplifting. We were always ragging each other about something. It's so hard to think that Sunday, when we left out from our Mother's Day visit, that that would be the last time we would see him. He was so happy to see the boys playing, even offered for me to go home and pack their bags, that he was going to come pick them up to stay with them....I almost called him Sunday night when they boys were running wild and crazy to come pick them up-I didn't call because I didn't want to wake him...now I wish I would have, just so I could have heard his voice one more time.

He had such pride in his family. Sunday he was talking about how excited he was to see two of his granddaughters get baptized in June, and he got a little emotional. His prayer every day was for his family and friends to know Jesus as their Savior. So if you knew Lewis Durden please know he loved you, he prayed hard for you, he is waiting in Heaven for you. Join him.

We will see you soon Papa. We love you and miss you so so much.
