Daughter of William M. Garrett and Martha S. (Grider) Garrett. Married John W. "Willie" Davis in 1912. Moved to Albuquerque from San Angelo Texas about 1940 to live near her children. Died in the old Women's and Children's Hospital on Christmas Eve 1941 after being struck by an automobile while crossing Central Avenue in front of the hospital. Buried in Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque.

Davis Rites Held In Albuquerque

Funeral services for Mrs. Lela Davis, 47, former San Angelo resident who was struck by an automobile and fatally injured in Albuquerque, N.M., Christmas Eve, were conducted in Albuquerque Saturday at 10 a.m. Mrs. Bernice Ellett and Miss Hattie Tom Garrett, sisters, of San Angelo attended the funeral rites.

Mrs. Davis had worked for a dry cleaning form in San Angelo until two months ago, where she moved to Albuquerque. She was returning to her home from last-minute Christmas shopping when the accident occurred. Police officials believed she had just stepped off a bus before she was struck.

In addition to Mrs. Ellett and Miss Garrett, survivors include three other sisters residing in San Angelo, Rosssye Garrett, Mrs. Allie Pledge and Mrs. Paul Taylor; three brothers, Harry, Percy and Claude Garrett, all of Bay City; four children, Mrs. B.B. Wooten, Mrs. N.G. Sloan and Mrs. W.L. Orr, all of Albuquerque, and Leonard Davis of Baggett, Calif.
