WILMA OLIVE MAYFIELD Robertson, 1919 -2003

Wilma Olive Mayfield, (on her birth certificate she is recorded as Olive Wilma Mayfield but she has informed me that her birth certificate is in error and in all of the records I have researched that pertain to she and her family, she is always referred to as Wilma Olive Mayfield and my father always called her "Willie", therefore that is how I will record her throughout this family history). She was the daughter and youngest child of Uriah Lamont and Arlena "Lena" Powell Mayfield and was born to them on Sunday, September 7, 1919 at their home in Marcelline, Ursa Township, Adams County, Illinois. She died when age 83 years 5 months, and 15 days of age, at 3:05 PM on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at the North Adams Nursing Home near Mendon, in Adams County, Illinois. She married Charles Estel Clarence Robertson, son of George Albert and Frances "Fannie" Jane Stark Robertson, on Thursday, May 18, 1939 at Palmyra, in Marion County, Missouri. He was born on Friday, April 5, 1918 at Rockport, in Atlas Township, Adams County, Illinois and died on Sunday, April 25, 1995 at the age of 77 years and 10 days.He pasted away in the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa. In of the year 2000 Wilma moved to the North Adams Retirement Home, located to the northeast of Quincy near the town of Mendon, which is approximately 5 miles from Marcelline, Illinois where she was born. A few years before entering the North Adams Home she had been diagnosed with the symptoms of Parkinson's disease but responded very well to medication. The disease slowly progressed until it eventually affected her abilty to swallow which caused her to loose her appetite and she began to lose weight. In January of 2003 she developed a case of pneumonia from which she never fully recovered.
