Kiel - Donald E. Vogel, beloved husband and father went home Thursday evening July 12, 2018 following a brief struggle with cancer. Don was a nature lover, outdoorsman, conservationist, gentle soul and good man that will be dearly missed.
Donald was born on October 2, 1941 in Sheboygan, son of the late Lester and Sylvia (Voigt) Vogel. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1959. Donald served with the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1963, he continued service in the Army National Guard until 1967. He was a member of the Red Arrow Division. On October 17, 1964, he married Mildred Beumler at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. Don was a dedicated employee of Meiselwitz Furniture from 1963 until 2005 when he retired.
He is survived by his loving wife Millie; his children: Michele Vogel and Michael (Kerri) Vogel; his grandchildren: Alex and Anna Vogel; and his sister, Nancy (Roger) Gosse. He is further survived by his sisters-in-law: Betty Vogel, Janet Vogel, Clarice Gierke, Corine Winkel, JoAnn Kirk, Janet (Don) Meek, Marilyn LeMoine, Eileen (Mike) Gerrity, and Paulette (Mike) Baus.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Sylvia Vogel, his two brothers, Gene and Robert Vogel, sister-in-law, Elva Thornton and his mother-in-law and father-in-law;, Joe & Irene Beumler
Per Donald's wishes cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 6:00 pm on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at Kiel Alliance Church (310 Fremont St., Kiel) with Pastor Jack Stimmel officiating.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff and doctors on the 2nd and 4th floors at St. Elizabeth Hospital for the excellent care given to Donald and his family.
Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
