The Huntsville Times, Thursday, November 26, 1953: Mrs. R. W. Davis, New Market, Dies. Funeral Services Set at 2 O’clock Friday From The Residence. Mrs. Daisy Monte Davis, 83, widow of the late R. W. Davis, died at her home in New Market at 2:40 a.m. today. She is survived by two daughters, Miss Allene Davis and Mrs. Alvorene Walker; two sons, O. V. Davis and R. M. Davis, all of New Market; one brother, W. G. Johnson of Marion Junction, Ala.; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. Davis was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Plevna. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday from the residence, followed by burial in the Miller cemetery near Plevna. Laughlin-Service Funeral Home will direct burial. Active pallbearers will be O. H. Esslinger, John Bryan Keith, R. O. Vandiver, R. F. Vandiver, E. T. Bates, Ollie Howard, Marion Chandler and V. T. Stone. Honorary pallbearers will include Dr. E. V. Caldwell, Ed Jacks, W. C. Davis, P. S. Dunnavant, J. B. Walker, C. D. Howard, A. K. Walker, Emmett Fuqua, Roy Walker and Lynn Zimmerman.
