The Huntsville Times Friday, September 5, 1969: New Market. A funeral for O. V. Davis of New Market, Rt. 2, who died at Huntsville Hospital Thursday after a short illness, will be at Laughlin-Service Funeral Home chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Burns Drake officiating. Burial will be in Miller Cemetery. Survivors include one son, Eugene M. Davis, Huntsville; one daughter, Marguerite O. Davis, Starkville, Miss.; two sisters, Mrs. Alvorene Walker and Miss Aliene Davis, both of New Market; one brother, R. M. Davis, New Market; and two grandchildren, Mrs. Richard Browne, Nashville, Tenn., and James Owen Davis, Birmingham. Mr. Davis was a native of Madison County and was a farmer in the New Market community. He was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Plevna. The family asks that memorial donations be made to the heart fund in lieu of flowers. Pallbearers will be E. T. Bates, Rufus Jacks, Ed Josey, Pickett Esslinger, John B. Keith, and Claude Davis.
