VENICE, Fla. - It is with great sadness that the family of Thelma Laila (Hemphill) Whitehouse, of Venice, Fla., announces her passing on August 29, 2018, at the age of 96 years. Teddy, as she was known to the family, was born June 28, 1922, to Thomas and Lizzie (Walton) Hemphill in Thorndike, Maine.
Thelma was a crafter and enjoyed civic involvement. She had been a Cub Scout Leader, a Girl Scout Leader, and was involved, even in recent years, with civic activities. Teddy was recently recognized for donating over 450 handmade baby blankets to Wake County Medical Center in North Carolina.
She is predeceased by her parents; and three sisters, Avis, Edith, and Ethel, and her husband Robert R. Whitehouse formerly of Unity, Maine.
Thelma will be sadly missed by her sons Glen of Fuquay-Varina, N.C., Fred of Venice, Fla., and their wives Sharon and Grace. Thelma will also be fondly remembered by her four grandchildren, Corrie, Tracy, Ben, and Stephanie' and nine great-grandchildren, Connor, Trevor, Kendall, Kasey, Tyler, Christopher, Hayley, Zachary, and Bradley.
