Edward W. Basken, 89, formerly of Melnik (Route 1, Whitelaw) died Monday evening, April 1, at Hamilton Memorial Home, Two Rivers.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville. The Rev. William Plank will officiate and burial will be in Knollwood Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Basken was born Aug. 20, 1895, in the Town of Kossuth, son of the late George and Margaret Dolezal Basken. He married Lillian Huletz, Dec. 29, 1915, at Manitowoc. The couple farmed in the Town of Gibson. His wife preceded him in death Aug. 12, 1975.

Survivors include two sons and three daughters-in-law, Norman and Lydia of Reif Mills Rd., Route 2, Manitowoc, Allan and Louise of Route 1, Whitelaw and Mrs. Mabel Basken of Route 2, Kewaunee; two daughters, Mrs. Irene Warm of Janesville and Mrs. John (Lorraine) Miller of Two Rivers; a brother, Henry of Route 2, Two Rivers and a sister, Mrs. Emma Pagel of Route 1, Maribel; 28 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Clarence, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren, a brother, two sisters, and two sons-in-law.

Friends may call at Saur Funeral Home, Kellnersville, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Miss Lillian Hulitz of this place and Edward Basken from near Francis Creek were married Wednesday at the bride's home. The ceremony was performed by Justice of the Peace Miloslav Dushek. We extend congratulations.
