William Richard Baker, age 95, of Rootstown, Ohio, passed peacefully and went home to be with Lord on Monday, December 31, 2018. Richard was born March 25, 1923 in Wise, Virginia. He is the son of Jerry Schuyler Baker and Sarah (Skeen) Baker. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service he moved his family to Ohio and began working at Goodyear Aerospace from which he retired as an inspector for wheels and brakes in 1987. Richard attended Grace Baptist Church in Kent, Ohio for many years; The Chapel on Fir Hill, Akron, Ohio and The Chapel in Green. Richard is survived by his daughter Janice Baker, and his sisters-in-laws: Leeota Baker, and Virginia Baker, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of 62 years, Lakie Ramey Baker, and also his brothers: Arlie, Herbert, Milford, Virgil, Clarence, Jimmy, Frank and his sisters: Odith Bevins, and Katherine Covey. Friends will be received at the Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home, 703 E. Main St., Ravenna, on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 11:00am until the funeral service, officiated by Pastor Steve Bucy, beginning at 12:00pm. Interment will take place at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, Virginia.

Burial will follow in the Laurel Grove Cemetery in Norton, VA. Family will receive friends from 12:00 P.M. till time of services at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 10, 2019 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
