Des Moines - Ann Bowler died peacefully Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, IA. A memorial funeral service for Ann will be at 7:00 pm, Friday, January 25th at Urbandale United Church of Christ. Visitation will begin at 6:00 pm prior to service. Burial of ashes will be at a later date at the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery.
Ann was born in Santa Ana, California, on June 4, 1935 to Alberta Smith McKinney and Everett A. McKinney, Sr. Ann met Ray Bowler at Northwest Christian College (NCC) in Eugene, Oregon. They were married on July 2, 1957 and celebrated sixty years of marriage a few months prior to Ray's death in 2017. Ray and Ann have three children, and two beloved grandchildren.
Ann enjoyed researching her genealogy. She found ancestors and "new" cousins in several European countries. Several newly discovered cousins became good friends and some shared Ann's passion for family history. She was a member of National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Ann was preceded in death by husband, Ray H. Bowler, parents, Everett and Alberta McKinney, and brothers Everett A. McKinney, Jr. and Paul McKinney. She is survived by her children, son-in-law, and grandchildren. She is also survived by brothers and sister-in-law, John and Dianne McKinney, David and Wanda McKinney, Andrew and Tres McKinney, sister, F. Ruth McKinney-Rickey, as well as nieces, nephew, and great-nieces.
