Beulah Carlton Gwynn, 75, of 247 E 4700 N Canyon Road, Provo, died Saturday, June 27, 1981 in her home in Provo following a short illness.
She was born August 29, 1905 in Lovell, WY, a daughter of Hyrum Cash and Emma Winifred Moore Carlton. She married Edward Owen Gwynn on May 24, 1927 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died April 1, 1972.
She attended the Big Horn Academy in Wyoming, the University of Wyoming, and the University of Utah, graduating with a teachers degree. She taught school in Lovell for several years before her marriage.
Her early married life was spent in Fort Riley, KS, as a wife of a calvary officer with the US Army. Throughout her life she lived in various places in the United States and the world during her husband's military career.
Wherever she lived she was very active in the LDS Church and served in various capacities, including Relief Society president of the Santa Rosa Stake in California for 11 years, the first Relief Society president of Paris, France Branch, and other Relief Society presidencies throughout the World.
At the time of her death she was a Relief Society teacher in the Edgemont Ninth Ward. She had lived in Provo the past 6 years and just prior to coming to Provo she lived in Thailand for 2 years where she was very active in the Relief Society in the South Eastern Mission.
Survivors include 2 daughters and one son, Mrs. William Don (Ann) Adams, Seattle; Dr. Robert Edward Gwynn, Berkeley, CA; Mrs. Dennis Lee (Linda) Minnick, Salt Lake City; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a stepmother, Mrs. Torza M. Carlton Christensen, Logan; one brother and one sister; and 3 half sisters.
Funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Edgemont Stake Center. Burial will be in San Rafael, CA.
