Suggested edit: please add this transcribed obit of her brother, telling their family history:

Obit of her brother, General Asahel Gridley (to prove family relations) in the Bloomington Weekly Pentagraph, January 28, 1881, pg.1
(Transcribed by Ronni Croft, a niece descendant of her sister, Lydia Gridley-Beckworth, parents, by Ronni to explain details.)

Asahel Gridley, father of the deceased, was born March 29, 1765 at New Denham, not far from Cazenovia, on the east side of the Catskill Mountains, in Madison Co., in the state of New York, and was married October 1st, 1788 to Miss Elizabeth PERCIVAL, who was born near the same place April 14, 1766. They raised six children:
Timothy, (died age 70)
Lydia, (married Samuel BECKWORTH of Marshall Co, IL, died age 70)
Elijah, (died age 30)
Clarancy, ( died age 6 weeks)
Abigail (of this memorial)
Asahel, Jr. (became an IL statesman, the deceased ((of this obit)) who was the youngest)

Asahel Sr, the father of the deceased, died May 15, 1814 when deceased (Asahel Jr) was four years old and Elizabeth, his mother, died August 12, 1824, just ten years later (Asahel age 14), both died on the old homestead near Cazenovia. They all lived and passed away almost a stones throw away from the old home in the mountains (correction, Lydia and Abigail followed brother Asahel to IL).

Abigail, the youngest sister of the deceased (Asahel Jr) has survived them all and is now in the 79th year of her age. She was married to Sylvester CHAMPLIN on September 16, 1823 at Cazanovia, NY where they resided until 1836 when they emigrated westward and located at Pontiac, IL where they lived two years and then moved in 1838 to Lexington, McLean Co, IL ( a twsp started by her brother, Asahel). February 22, 1855, Mr. Champlin died, being 64 years old...Mrs Champlin (Abigail) has lived there or nearby ever since, and now she is living with her daughter, Mrs. A.B. SCROGIN, about five miles north of Lexington.
