"Asahel is found misspelled as Asasell and Asel. There is an Asel in Ballstown, Saratoga Co., NY 1790 when Asahel's family is about to move from CT to Albany, NY area, he is not in the same town census as father and grown brothers, but he is buried in Manilus, NY area. Asahel had land in NW corner of the Town of Cazenovoia, NY.

Asahel and Elizabeth had 6 children, naming them after their family members: Timothy, Lydia, Elijah, Clarancy, Abigail, Asahel Jr. (famous General and statesman of Bloomington, Illinois), they were married 26 years when he died 1814,probably Elijah and Clarancy still at home and the elder children married (Note: Clarancey died at age 2 and would have been home when father died). Lydia married 1810. For sure, widowed Elizabeth with Abigail and Asahel Jr. at home. The eldest son, Timothy was age 24 and given guardianship of 4yo Asahel Jr. until Asahel Sr's brother, Uncle Jabez, living in Michigan, takes guardianship when Jr. is age 18.
