Joseph J. Falter, of Aurora CO, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at his residence in Parker, CO. He was born September 15, 1929 in Delphos, OH to the late John B. and Ida (née Hempfling) Falter. Joseph married Annette (née Boucher) Falter on May 25, 1960 who preceded him in death on May 24, 2018.

He had 3 siblings that preceded him in death: 2 brothers, Richard J. Falter of Troy, OH and Fr. John Falter, C.P.P.S. of Carthagena, OH, and 1 sister, Mary T. Grewe of Crystal Lake, IL. Joseph graduated from St. John’s High School in Delphos and served in the US Army in Stuttgart, Germany during the Korean Conflict. He is alumni of Northwestern University and Miami University (OH) with a Master’s in Journalism. In 1957, he founded the St. John Valley Times newspaper with Emile Genest in Madawaska, ME where he served as publisher until 1971, when he sold the paper to his brother-in-law Forrest Rahrig. He relocated with his family that year to Lebanon, OH, becoming editor of The Western Star weekly newspaper until his retirement in 1994. During retirement, Joseph published several newsletters for organizations around the Lebanon area. Joseph relocated to Aurora CO 2009 to help raise his grandchildren .
He will be immensely missed by all who knew him. Joseph at his passing was 89 years old and is interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery near Denver, CO.
