“Modesta Snell

Modesta Snell was born to George and Myrtle Ingram on Oct. 13, 1932, in Ackerly, Texas, and was reared and educated there. In 1950, she moved to Big Spring, where she worked for the First National Bank of Big Spring. In 1960, she moved to Midland and worked for First National Bank of Midland. She met and later married William Snell in 1962. Mrs. Snell worked and volunteered for MISD libraries in 1976, and in 1979, she worked at the Lee High School Youth Center. She also worked at Mama Bear's Cottage, where she provided child care.

Mrs. Snell was a past president of the Demolay's Mothers' Club, a member of the Lee High School Band Booster organization, and an associate manager for MUGS softball organization. She worked at Trinity Presbyterian Church and later worked at Grace Presbyterian, St. Luke's and St. Mark's Methodist churches. She was affiliated with Grace Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, William "Bill" Snell of Midland; her daughter, Jennifer A. Snell of Midland; her son, W. Jeffrey Snell of Midland; her brothers, Clay Ingram of Big Spring, George S. Ingram of Abilene, Gibby Ingram of Dallas and Lynn Ingram of Knott, Texas; her sister, Totsy Alderton of Abilene; two grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She died Thursday morning at her residence.

Memorial services have been scheduled for 1:30 p.m. today, June 14, at Grace Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Bill Clark officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
