Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with the Rev. Tommy Needham of First Baptist Church and the Rev. Raymond Bowling, pastor, First Baptist Church, Bushland, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery.
Mr. Needham was born in Collingsworth County. During the Korean War he served in the Army. An Amarillo resident since 1950, he retired from Pantex after 26 years as refrigeration machinist Local 1255 technician.
After retirement Mr. Needham became certified as a master gardener, volunteering at Amarillo High School as an instructor in the master gardener program. He also volunteered with the YES program in the 79107 Gardening Project and as a math tutor at San Jacinto Elementary School with the HOST program. He was a former deacon at Avondale Baptist Church, serving for more than 20 years.
He married Ruby Ellen Calcote in 1949 at Wellington.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mark Needham of Amarillo; a daughter, Sharon Evans of Littleton, Colo.; a sister, Hazel Ray of Majalia, Calif.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
The family will be at 100 N. Maryland. In lieu of flowers, they request memorials to HOST, c/o San Jacinto Elementary School, 3400 W. Fourth Ave., Amarillo, Texas 79106, or to Master Gardeners.
