He was the oldest child of William Estridge and Sophia Fender. He married first Phoebe Williams 8-25-1852 Perry( sister of Silas who married John's sister Wadie) . Phoebe died 12-12-1880.
John married second Emily Bowman (1830-1902), widow of John Campbell (1827-1880) on 10-25-1881 Clay. John likely died between 5-21-1885 (when he made second deposition in pension case) and 9-20-1886 when Emily purchased property (alone) from William and Sarah Campbell (her son and John's daughter). John's son John # 10 (per his granddaugther Margareta Masters) said his father was crippled (had a club foot). This is consistent with the fact that John said in a pension deposition that he never served in any army (there are two John Eastridges is 48th VA Infantry Confederate, likely different, one is probably son of William's brother Ephriam). Phoebe is buried at Brown Mission Cemetery, Clay County. There is no clearly identifiable grave, but John is likely buried in the unmarked spot to the north of her (there is a worn stone laying on next grave that possibly says Estridge).
