Sibilla LaFaute Lippens, age 93, formerly of St. Nicholas and Gladstone before residing in Escanaba, died Monday Sept 27, 1999 at
the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born in Gent, Belgium, the
daughter of Peter LaFaute and the former Marie Stockman. She immigrated to the United States in 1924, after she married her
husband, Adolph J. Lippens. He preceded her in death on March 12,
1989.

She was the last of the immigrant settlers to the St. Nicholas area.
She was a member of Holy Family Church in Flat Rock for many years and
then became a member of St. Anne's Church in Escanaba.

Survivors include 7 sons; 7 daughters, 65 grandchildren; 126 great
grandchildren; 12 great great grandchildren; numerous nieces and
nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Adolph, she was preceded in
death by two sisters, Martha VanAcker and Sr. Irma LaFaute, both of
Belgium.

Burial will be in the Escanaba Township Cemetery. The Skradske Funeral
Home of Escanaba and Gladstone is in charge of the arrangements...
