She was born July 6, 1934, in Union Township, Union County, a daughter of the late Harry S. and Annie R. (Brouse) Krouse. On June 19, 1954, she married Richard E. Walter who preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2007.
Jean was a 1953 graduate of Selinsgrove High School.
She had been employed as a church secretary at Zion Lutheran Church, Kratzerville, at the Children's Center, Sunbury, in the office at the Middleburg Livestock Auction, and had assisted her husband in the operation of the family farm.
She attended Christ Community United Methodist Church, Selinsgrove, and had been affiliated with the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association.
Jean will be remembered as a people person who loved to talk to others.
She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Charles Herrold of Selinsgrove; two stepgrandsons and their spouses, Jeremy and Gail Herrold and Jarrod and Amanda Herrold; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two special friends, Sandra Shaffer and Amy Rhoades; and 14 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Erma Berge, Mary Thomas, Beatrice Renninger, and Dorothy Krouse; and three brothers, Ray, Clair, and Urie Kline.
A veiwing will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove, followed by the funeral at 11, with the Rev. Randall Bennett Jr. and Pastor Curt Brown, officiating.
Burial will be iJeann Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Kratzerville.
