— SUNBURY — Clair A. "Checker" Kline, 94, formerly of Selinsgrove, passed away at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2011, at Manor Care, Sunbury, where he had lived for six years.

He was born Sept. 7, 1916, in Jackson Township, Snyder County, a son of the late Urie M. Kline and Annie R. (Brouse) Kline Krouse. On March 23, 1940, he married the former Dorothy M. Baney, who preceded him in death on Sept. 15, 2005.

Clair was a mechanic working for many years at Brouse's Garage, Kratzerville, and later at Wilt Ford, Middleburg. He retired from Colonial Furniture, Freeburg.

He was a member of the Northumberland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He is survived by three sisters, Jean P. Walter, of Selinsgrove, Erma E. Berge and husband Floyd W., of New Berlin, and Mary L. Thomas, of Selinsgrove; one sister-in-law, Lena T. Eberly, of Selinsgrove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ray E. and Urie R. Kline, and two sisters, Beatrice A. Renninger and Dorothy M. Krouse.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in Northumberland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses with Robert Auman officiating.

A private burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Selinsgrove.

Funeral arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, Selinsgrove.
