Joseph S. Schmitz,age 86, County Trunk N of the Town of Lyndon passed away Early Sunday Evening (Sept. 2) at Rocky Knoll Health Care facility where he had been a resident for the last month.
He was born on October 20, 1925, in the Town of Greenbush, Wisconsin, a son of the late Matthew and Theresa Meyer Schmitz. He attended Lightfoot Grade School.
On May 15, 1954, he married Dorothy Dwyre at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Parnell. The couple lived and farmed in the Town of Greenbush until 1976 when they moved to their home on County Trunk N in the Town of Plymouth. Joe worked for Francis Feider Town & County Realty for over 20 years.
Dorothy preceded him in death on July 4, 2006.
Joe was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. He enjoyed gardening and tinkering in his garage.
Survivors include: Three Children: Michael (Christine) Schmitz of Elkhart Lake, Karen Schmitz of Green Bay, David Schmitz of Sheboygan, One Grandson: Michael Schmitz Jr.,One Granddaughter: Jessica Steinke, Three Great grandchildren: One sister: Mary (Urban) Binversie of School Hill. Also survived by other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother and father-in-law.
Prayer service will be held on Thursday Evening, Sept 6th, at 6:00 P.M. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. Father Dan Volkert, pastor of the church will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Parnell.
Friends may call at the CHURCH from 5:00 P.M. on Thursday until the time of services.
