MATT SCHMITZ

Matt Schmitz, 80, formerly of Glenbeulah, died today at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Sheboygan, where he resided for two years.

He was born Nov. 23, 1890, at Dacada, Wis., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Schmitz. He married Theresa Meyer on Oct. 21, 1924 at Dacada.

Mr. Schmitz farmed in the Town of Greenbush until 1954 when he moved to Glenbeulah. He was a member of the Plymouth Knights of Columbus Council 1789, St. Fridolin’s Catholic Church at Glenbeulah, Holy Name Society of that parish and Our Lady of Angels Church at Armstrong.

Surviving are his daughter, Miss Mary Schmitz of Sheboygan; a son, Joseph of the Town of Greenbush; three grandchildren; a brother, John of West Bend; and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Even of New Holstein, Mrs. Rose Junius of Arlington, Tex., and Mrs. Margaret Schwister of Kaukauna.

He was preceded in death by his wife in October 1967, four sisters and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Huss Funeral Home, Plymouth and at 10 a.m. at St. Fridolin’s Church, Glenbeulah, with the Rev. J. R. Thurman officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Church Cemetery at Armstrong.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
