Aaron Fessenden III was born on December 19, 1818, in Granville, New York, to Aaron II and Nancy (Wetherbee) Fessenden. Aaron married Jane Ann Baker in 1842, in New York, and they had six children together. They made their way from New York slowly to Wisconsin to join his brother, Horace, in the Porter Township. Their first child, Horace, was born in New York, with the second, Loren, being born in Indiana, the third, Cora, being born in Illinois, and the last two, Fernando and Nancy, born in Porter.

He was a farmer for most of his life, and was involved in politics, one newspaper said quote "Aaron Fessenden has returned from Iowa, where he has been for the last year. Of course he feels greatly elated over Cleveland's Election." That was published in the Janesville Gazette on Thursday, March 5, 1885. Soon after, Aaron left for Albert Lea, Minnesota, for reasons unknown. On his death certificate, it was listed he was a "widower," even though his wife Jane was still alive back in Wisconsin. This led me to believe that Aaron and Jane separated after he returned from Iowa. Aaron died on April 4, 1887, in the Nunda Township, of heart disease.
